The following is an interview transcript between Jason Agnew of the LAW and the WWF's Kurt Angle. Full credit goes to The LAW.
Jason Agnew: A year ago at this point you were just entering the WWF, you had been here for about a month, and at that point you had been a gold medallist in the Olympics. So how is it different now to hold the WWF gold as opposed to holding the Olympic gold.
Kurt Angle: Well, to me, it's not much of a difference. To me, it just proves that I've been able to hold my own in the World Wrestling Federation. In the Olympics I proved I was best in the world but winning the WWF title just means that you're reaching the pinnacle of being one of the best in the WWF and being able to say that you can hold the title. It has been an honour and a privilege and to be able to do it so rapidly; there's a lot of credit to give not just to me but to the talent that helped me on the way up because we all work as a team. The guys, as far as the agents and the office and the talent (the guys I work against) have helped me look good and I owe them a lot of credit too. So, it was a team effort for Kurt Angle to be the World Wrestling Federation Champion and so it's an honor.
Jason Agnew: You've been working a lot with Hunter Hearst Helmsley, obviously. What's it like working with Hunter?
Kurt Angle: Hunter is what I consider the very best in sports-entertainment. The guy, Triple H, is so knowledgeable. He's the kind of guy that can put a match together; a fine match with a great finish. He's the total package with an incredible look, he can talk on the microphone, he has tremendous athletic skills, and he's the kind of guy when you're in there in a match you can trust him completely that the match is going to go over okay. He's the kind of guy with a lot of patience and so much experience. Him and Undertaker are the two guys that you know the match is going to go very well when you're in there with them.
Jason Agnew: So let me take you back, Kurt. In a match with Hunter when he did the Pedigree spot on the table; now you did get a concussion that night as I understand. What went on that night?
Kurt Angle: It was supposed to look like I got a concussion and I actually did get a concussion. What happened is the table broke early and Hunter had me in the Pedigree and when I dropped to the floor, my head hit the floor. So, he wasn't able to let my arms go in time for me to protect myself and it was because the table broke too early. When I left, I came back and I didn't know who I was or what I was doing. Rock and Triple H were in there and they basically talked me through the whole match and watching it on TV, you wouldn't even know. That's a lot of credit given to those guys because they're so experience and good at what they do that they basically cut the slack for me and made sure that I did all the right things. They're so good at communicating in the ring that sometimes you don't even have to know what you're doing in there and that can be dangerous. With those guys, they make it look good and they make you feel confident when you're in there. I give a lot of credit to them because I still don't remember the match. I remember coming to in the ambulance later that night; they rushed me to the hospital to have a cat scan and I don't remember what happened before that. So, whatever happened, I watched it the next day and it looked like a great match but I can't remember it.
Jason Agnew: What's up next for Kurt Angle and Trish Stratus? What's coming up at Wrestlemania? What's coming up at No Way Out?
Kurt Angle: I'm excited. I've talked to some of the office (people) and I'm very honored to have Trish in my corner. She reminds me a lot of myself, not that she's an Olympic gold medallist. Trish has caught on very quickly and I compare her to me because of the rapid progression I had in the World Wrestling Federation, Trish has proven herself in the last seven or eight months. She's shown that she can carry herself very well in the World Wrestling Federation and become one of the top talents. For her to do that so quickly, it reminds me of myself and it's funny because I came in right before her and we've both kind of escalated right to the top. It's great that we're working as a team now and I think in the future if we continue to work as a team, we can become more comfortable with each other. Right now, we don't have that comfortable level, it's going to take a little bit of time but hopefully we'll have that before they break us up.
